The Start a Business Programme provides a package of support to anyone interested in setting up a business. Anyone with an idea for a business can receive business advice from DEC’s trained business advisers. The programme has been designed to support all kinds of new ventures, both full-time and part-time.
The fundamental aim of the Start a Business Programme is to stimulate enterprise by encouraging individuals into self-employment and providing them with professional advice during the pre-start planning stages.
The Start a Business Programme offers three key components:
A free business advisory service. Clients will be provided with the services of a business adviser who will work with them on a one-to-one confidential basis, helping them prepare for their business before and during trading.
A free training course. The course consists of 8 modules focusing particularly on:
- Sales and marketing
- Finance management
- Legal and statutory issues
- General business practices
The training is modular so that clients can undertake sessions to suit their needs.
- A free Financial planning service. DEC helps clients to decide how much money they need to start their business and explores all potential sources of funding.
The programme also includes:
- Access to programme grant support and small business loans.
- A free website design and logo design service.
- Our business advisers will also assist clients with the development of a business plan.
