Did you know there are about 1.1 million businesses missing in the UK?!
That's because the gender gap in entrepreneurs means that only 1 in 3 entrepreneurs are women (The Rose Review, 2018). We want to see some of those businesses come to life right here in Mid Ulster and whether you are thinking of starting a business, growing a business you already have or want to be entrepreneurial in work we promise you will walk out the doors of our Inspire to Innovate event inspired, motivated and raring to #MakeItHappen.
This event, supported by Ulster Bank through the RBS Skills and Opportunities Fund and CavanaghKelly Chartered Accountants, coincides with the finale of our fantastic Inspire to Innovate Programme which has taken a group of women from the Mid Ulster area on a journey of both self discovery and entrepreneurial development. The event is an opportunity to celebrate that journey and to inspire as many women as possible to do what they can to #MakeItHappen for themselves.
Here's what you can expect...
We're delighted with our line up of speakers and we know you will love them too. Here's a brief introduction to them all:
Joanne Kearney is managing director of digital analytics consultancy firm GlowMetrics. The business started in 2013 and has grown to become the only agency in Ireland to be certified by Google in their full suite of Analytics products. Operating from Belfast and Dublin, GlowMetrics helps companies collect, evaluate and visualise visitor data, collected from website and apps to build customer stories and use it to optimise online journeys. Joanne will share her journey from having an idea to becoming a global brand.
Kaja Choma relocated from her native Poland to Dungannon in 2005 and is an aspiring entrepreneur who created Zdrowy (meaning healthy) Lifestyle, a Polish fitness initiative aiming to build a supportive and nurturing environment for her native Polish in Northern Ireland . Kaja took to the TEDx stage in 2017 and as a finalist in the Worldskills UK Championship, she uses her fitness knowledge and life experience to spread positive energy and encourage others to embrace their uniqueness.
Claire O'Hanlon MBE works in Dungannon Enterprise Centre but is perhaps better known for her charity work with her group, Leap for Luke and with UK charity Muscular Dystrophy UK. Claire received an MBE in the New Year's Honours list for 2019 and will share the journey that led from almost crippling introversion to having a leading voice in the campaign to find treatments, ensure access to those treatments and to improve care for those living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Entrepreneurship is a rollercoaster journey and Claire will share her penchant for resilience and determination to achieve a goal.
Vivian McKinnon founded Hydro Ease in 2015 and owns Ireland's only Floatation Centre specialising in treatments including Havening, NLP and Timeline Therapy and Hypnosis. Vivian has over 12 years experience as a change-work specialist; and is the NI Regional Coordinator for SMART recovery. Before moving to NI in 2010, Vivian spent 6 years with Scotland’s leading homelessness charity, Move On, coordinating and developing their mentoring project offering training, support and guidance to Mentors and young people who have experience of being looked after and accommodated by the local authority, then latterly developing a floating support project offering support and guidance to young people and adults who have found themselves in the revolving door of homelessness. Vivian is an experienced public speaker who has shared her awe inspiring story of transformation many times.
